A Perfect World
The track anticipating The Niro’s new album
of unreleased songs
Released on Friday, March 17, 2023
Released on March 17, 2023, A Perfect World, is the new song by The Niro anticipating the album of the same name coming in May on the Esordisco label.
Nine years after his previous album of unreleased songs, and four years after The Complete Jeff Buckley and Gary Lucas Songbook (the album bringing together the 12 songs written four-handedly by Jeff Buckley and American guitarist Gary Lucas, including five previously unreleased tracks), the Roman singer-songwriter returns with a new, intimate and emotional work sung entirely in Italian.

“The track recounts an encounter and its slow transformation into a clash ,” says The Niro. From “anything is possible” to “nothing is possible”; a few-minute summary of a life that seems like a replay of many other stories lived. A mirror of an age in which we feel less empowered to understand ourselves and to choose other paths, in search of other Perfect Worlds.”
A pressing and hypnotic rhythmic pattern, harmonic textures that skillfully mix acoustic and electronic instruments over bewitching carpets of strings support the superlative vocals of The Niro, who moves effortlessly through a compelling melodic line, shifting from deep bass to bold high tones, never losing incisiveness and strength.
BIO THE NIRO
Davide Combusti, aka The Niro, has to his credit three albums released by Universal: The Niro (2008), Best Wishes (2010) and 1969 (2014) while the 2012 album The Ship was released by Viceversa Records and distributed by Emi. Just 1969 differs from previous works in being entirely written and sung in Italian, like its title track presented in the New Proposals section of the 64th Sanremo Festival.
Many distinguished colleagues call The Niro to open their concerts. Among many Deep Purple, Amy Winehouse, Tom Hingley, leader of Inspiral Carpets and Lou Barlow of Dinosaur jr, Carmen Consoli, Isobel Campbell, Chris Leo, Gabriella Cilmi, One Republic, Afterhours, Caparezza, Malika Ayane. Appreciated abroad as well, he performs mainly between France, Britain and the United States.
In 2019 The Niro is called upon by Gary Lucas to release ‘The Complete Jeff Buckley and Gary Lucas Songbook,’ a critically acclaimed album containing a number of previously unreleased tracks resulting from the collaboration of the two American artists. The album, which premiered at The Cutting Room in New York, made it into the five-time winner of the 2020 Targhe Tenco in the ‘Album Interprete’ section.
Recently, The Niro has begun illustrating his thoughts using the moniker “Illustri Illustrazioni,” making use only of black and white Uniposca markers on black cardstock. The Niro’s interpretation is freehand, instinctive and imperfect, but with a strong identity.
The Niro is among the actors in Il primo giorno della mia vita (The First Day of My Life), the new film by Paolo Genovese, released in theaters on January 26, 2023.
The new album will be released in May 2023, anticipated by the title track A Perfect World.
